About Us

Complex and steep-ground forestry operations

Torra Ltd undertakes forestry harvesting and timber extraction across Scotland and Northern England, with particular experience on complex and steep-ground sites where conventional approaches are often unsuitable.

A significant proportion of our work is delivered on steep, constrained, or sensitive terrain where ground conditions, slope, access, and extraction routes require careful assessment. These sites demand a higher level of planning, machine selection, and operational control, and are typically characterised by limited margins for error.

Our steep-ground capability includes mechanised harvesting and extraction using systems configured to suit slope, ground bearing capacity, and haul distance. Where appropriate, this includes winch-assisted harvesting and extraction methods, supported by detailed site-specific planning and risk control measures.

Operational decisions are informed by a combination of site data, experienced personnel, and structured planning processes. UAV-derived surveys are used to support steep-ground assessment, extraction design, and operational oversight, improving visibility of terrain, constraints, and site conditions before work starts and as operations progress.

This depth of experience allows us to deliver harvesting and extraction programmes on sites that require disciplined execution, clear communication, and consistent control throughout the operation.
